Funding The Mill St. Renovations

To fund the project, we’ll need to raise $4 million in gifts over and above our regular tithes and offerings by January 2022 (which is 26 months or four tax years from the start of our campaign in December 2019). Because giving is such an outgrowth of our spiritual vitality, our prayer is that during this period we will both hit our financial target and grow our faith and dependence on God.

We're often asked how much each should give in order to do their part for More Stories. However, it's not simply a matter of dividing the total number evenly between households. What may be a small financial burden to some could be an overwhelming cost to another. More than that, generosity is less of a financial question and more of a heart question.

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 6:21

The temperature of our faith is closely linked to how we view and handle the resources that God has placed in our hands. If we are living by fear, we’ll keep our hands closed tightly around “our stuff”. When we live by faith, we can fearlessly follow Jesus with open hands, allowing our abundance to overflow to those around us. It’s about prioritizing a standard of giving over our standard of living. So our goal is not that we give equal amounts, but that we make an equal sacrifice as God guides each of us.

Together We Can Reach Our Goal

Levels of Giving to Produce $4 million

We believe our goal is achievable if every person in our church will prayerfully consider what God would want them to give. Each one of us will receive a different answer to that question. This graphic is not intended to suggest various giving tiers, but rather to demonstrate how our goal might be realized as God speaks to each one of us individually. What is important to note is that every gift matters and collectively we can reach our goal.

The unlabeled levels at the top and bottom represent the fact that you might feel called to give an amount not shown here. If each of us makes a prayerful, heartfelt commitment to God’s work, the cumulative results will be amazing!

How Do I Decide What to Give?

Step 1: Ask, “What’s Reasonable?”

If giving is part of your regular rhythm, you may have a predetermined amount that you generally give to a special cause. Or, you may be new to giving and this might be the first time you're considering a substantial gift to support our ministry. Asking "what's reasonable?" might mean committing a portion of your budget or cash flow, above and beyond your regular tithing and giving, to support our More Stories campaign.

Step 2: Reprioritize

Making small changes in your priorities can make a huge difference in how much you have available to invest in God's Kingdom. Is there some luxury or convenience you can voluntarily do without for a season so that you can more meaningfully participate in what God is doing in our church? Or, how might God even be inviting you to give up something you love for a priority that you love even more?

Step 3: Rely on God

After considering your household’s resources and priorities, what would it look like if you took a step of faith? What if your pledge caused you to actually rely on God’s provision? When you bring this question humbly to God in prayer, with an open heart, you might experience God’s faithfulness in ways you never expected! You might consider offering up to God your tax return, a bonus, an inheritance, or any extra funds you have at our disposal.

Whatever you feel called to give, may we all give joyfully and with trust in God's provision!

Ideas to Reprioritize Our Giving

There are countless ways to creatively redirect, reprioritize, and retool finances to give sacrificially to the work of God through Highrock. Here are a few examples:

Add It To Your
Wish List

We are often blessed with more gifts under the Christmas tree than we can use. Put a gift to the More Stories campaign on your wish list for Santa, and celebrate the spirit of giving instead of receiving.

Eat Out Less

Skipping one family meal at a restaurant per week ($50) translates into $5,250 over 26 months.

Skip Starbucks

That Pumpkin Spiced Latté habit is costing you $1,100 a year. Consider brewing at home or skipping one trip to the coffee shop a week.

Go on a Staycation

Instead of taking that family trip or heading to a resort, be tourists in your own town and redirect those vacation funds to a mission that pays eternal dividends.

Take Advantage of Your Talents

Have a knack for knitting or a passion for pottery? Use the money you receive from your talents and skills to impact the kingdom.

MovIe Night

Watching a movie at home can save a family of four over $50 in tickets alone. Add in the cost of concession stand popcorn and drinks, and you might save $100 on a night out!
